Kitchen Curtains: The Many Different Styles To Choose From
73Redesigning your kitchen is an exciting affair, especially if you are going for a look that you have never done before. Aside from getting appliances that match, the second most common thing that people look at in a kitchen are the window treatments. This is especially true if your kitchen has a large bay window.
When choosing kitchen curtains, you should pick a style that reflects your personality. If you are laid back and easy going, country-style kitchen curtains might be something for you to consider. This style of curtain is long on the sides with a valance near the top to hide the curtain rod. They may or may not contain a second valance toward the middle to hide the window division. Aside from the cut, this style is usually bright and cheerful, with animal prints or checkerboard prints being popular. The country kitchen style curtains are great if you are going for the rustic look, but if you want something a bit more modern, then you would probably like tier curtains.
Tier curtains come in hundreds of styles, but this style is simple and has no valance attached. Instead, you pull them across the rod to join them. They can be heavy canvas, or even lace, and can be made from any color or pattern you decide. In fact, this is often the style of curtain many people make at home since the design is simple and there are no extra fabric requirements. Of course, since the tier curtain style is entirely simple, if you want something fancier, Cape Cod style curtains might be right up your alley.
The Cape Cod style of curtain is unique because it has a valance at the top, with tiered curtains that form a diamond of open space when they are open. They are traditionally lined with lace to give them a unique fancy feel although recent styles of cape cod curtain have forgone the lace in favor or something a little bolder. These curtains are probably the most difficult to get right when hung, as tying them back requires a bit of knowledge so that all of the curtains are even. They are also the best curtains for covering a large window such as a bay window.
As you can see, there are many different styles of curtain for you to choose from when it comes to creating your dream kitchen. Whether you go with curtains that bring in the old world charm or you stick with something that is slightly modern is up to you, but you should make sure the style you choose is something you will want to see for years to come.
Aside from the styles and patterns, remember to choose a curtain that is machine washable. You do not want to have kitchen curtains that you have to take to the dry cleaner each time you want to get them cleaned, since it can be a real hassle if they are the only thing in your home that needs dry cleaning plus it's an added expense.

I agree, kitchen curtains must be easy to throw in the washing machine and wash, and quick to dry too, as they need laundering fairly often.
